WOODLAND HILLS STUDENT SUMMIT MURAL
GREATER PITTSBURGH, PA | 2025

This extraordinary piece by Janel Young celebrates the mission of the Woodland Hills Student Summit, which brings together students from districts throughout the region and empowers them to discuss important issues that matter to them. This year, the summit welcomed nearly 300 students from two dozen districts in Western Pennsylvania. Ms. Young's artwork features panels that represent the various topics the students chose for the summit this year:

Creating Positive Change in Schools | Social Media Influence

Voting and Democracy | Athlete's’ Mental Health and Responsibilities

Racial and Social Equity | Trauma and Informed Care

LGTBQ+ | Human Rights | Evolution of AI and Technology

Mr. Paul Beard constructed the frame, with the metal supports echoing elements of the logo for this year's summit, which was designed by Belle Vernon student Luciano Lopez. Mr. Aaron Minor burned in the names of the participating schools. Mr. Beard and Ms. Young worked together to ensure the frame would properly complement the art, and then stretched the canvas to firmly install it into place.
