PATHWAY TO JOY
PITTSBURGH, PA | 2021

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and Cultural Trust commissioned Young to design an asphalt mural for a pop-up park, Allegheny Overlook, in the heart of the city. The temporary mural installation stretches an entire downtown highway block of Fort Duquesne Blvd. It kicked off the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival and remained through summer 2021.

JY Originals completed the mural in just 2 weeks alongside her hand-picked team of 4 local Black women artists. The Allegheny Overlook has since received Pittsburgh Urban Land Institute’s annual Placemaking Award for Excellence.
