YAHOO!’S BLACK HISTORY MONTH LOGO | 2021

Young was commissioned to redesigned Yahoo’s logo in celebration of Black History Month and the company’s initiative to “Make Space for Black Voices.” Janel is the first artist they have partnered with in this way to do the thematic logo refresh. It can be found on Yahoo.com/bhm for the month of February.

The design features a magnifying glass and precious jewels to signify revealing the many gems in Black history, including people, s/heroes, culture, traditions, movements and Black joy. It also showcases one of her Black Girl Magic characters and her signature tribal patterns that represent community, support and strength.
