WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
PITTSBURGH, PA | 2024

This artistic basketball court mural is the second court for both Young and the City of Pittsburgh. The collaborative vision of local creative agency Hounds, renovation organization Swishh Dreams, and muralist Janel Young was brought to life for the Northside community after winning the national Every Court Has a Story competition by way of the A Northside Solo short film. JY Originals’ design was inspired by community residents and their experiences at this historic park, commonly referred to as “The Jungle.”

The renovation was led by Project Backboard and Swishh Dreams, and funded by Five Star Basketball, the Langston Galloway Foundation, and Local Hoops. The team was awarded a proclamation for enhancing the community through art and sport, making August 3rd, 2024 “The Jungle Celebration Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
