FLOURLESS + CARIBBEAN AMPHIBIAN | 2022 + 2021

Janel Young was one of several artists paired up with a local brewery for beer label artwork to spice up the Barrel + Flow beer festival. The festival (previously known as Fresh Fest) is geared toward amplifying Black brewers + breweries.

In 2021, Young collaborated with East End Brewing and Black Frog Brewery. Her design was a creative mash up between East End’s logo, portrayed as the sun in the backdrop, and the black frog mascot in the foreground. The Caribbean island atmosphere is obvious and tempting, mixed in with the surreal and subtlety of music notes as clouds to give a nod to the music portion of the festival.

In 2022, Janel collaborated with Necromancer Brewing and Sweet Little Eats. Her second design took on the baker’s chocolate cake flavor in the brewery’s playful emo illustration style. She added her own familiar character twist to the old-fashion ice cream parlor vision of the label.
